I heard the sad news of Dr Crisp passing away today. I did write in the condolences book, but in my shock I do not feel I articulated what I really wanted to say. I had the privilege of being one of Dr Crisps patients since 2009 (ish) as have my three daughters. I would describe Dr Crisp as old school. You hear of local doctors back in the day, knowing their patients well, by name and face and all the ailments they had by memory. Not something I've seen in my 31 years. Until Dr Crisp. Most doctors these days are so inundated with patients, they never remember one from another. This was not the case with Dr Crisp. I don't doubt she had more patients than she could count and was as busy as the next GP, but she had that gift, that special something that doctors often lack these days. She remembered me, my children and all our illnesses. Never once did I see her check our history, she simply remembered it. She had warmth, empathy and the time you needed in abundance. Never was she dismissive, never did she make you feel hurried. She made you feel nothing was trivial. Whilst I knew her only as our doctor, it took the wind out of my sails so to speak, when I heard of her passing today. I feel somewhat desolate. Sad that we will not experience her professionalism and kindness anymore. Sad that my children will no longer grow up with a GP like her. I feel for her family. Whilst words cannot mend a broken heart or make up for the loss of someone so special, I hope knowing that others, be it patients, friends or colleagues, thought so highly of her that it helps in some way. Dr Crisp was somebody. She made a difference. She will be remembered by many. My sympathies to those who feel her loss. L Jones & family.
